Attention Coaches: Are you in good standing with Professional Development (PD) points?

As the 2022-2023 season unfolds, we encourage all Skate Canada Coaches to visit their Coach Dashboard on a regular basis to manage the requirements and expiry dates of their registered Skate Canada Coach in Good Standing status.

The Skate Canada membership season runs from September 1 to August 31 each year. To maintain a NCCP certification status renewed in the Coaching Association of Canada (CAC) Locker, a coach must accumulate the necessary professional development (PD) points as determined in the chart below. The CAC cycle to accumulate PD points runs from January 1 to December 31 every three years and is based on the highest NCCP certification status of a coach.

Coaches earn PD points by participating in various activities such as seminars, NCCP courses, meetings at the club, provincial, and national level, conferences, Skate Canada e-learning courses, committee work, etc.  Most of the PD points for activities organized by a Section or Skate Canada will be entered in a coach’s Locker by the host organization. Coaches may also self-declare up to three PD points per three-year cycle for activities such as first aid courses, registering as a Skate Canada coach, etc. For more information, we encourage coaches to visit the CAC website at Coaching Association of Canada

For clarity purposes, coaches that have registered for the 2022-2023 season and their PD points are due January 1, 2023, your coach dashboard will show December 31, 2022 as the expiry date for this requirement. Again, we encourage all Coaches to become familiar with their own Skate Canada Coach Dashboard and the CAC Locker profile.

To honour National Coaches’ Week on September 18-25, Skate Canada gives thanks  for your commitment to coaching and the various contributions you are making to our sport. We take this opportunity to wish you a wonderful week of well-deserved celebration and recognition. Please contact any member of the Skate Canada Coaching Team if you have any questions as we are happy to assist.
