Rule Book Updates Effective July 1, 2025

The Skate Canada Rule Book has been updated for the 2025-2026 season. These rule updates include (but are not limited to):

  • Competition Program Requirements – Adult:
    • Updated requirements for 2025-2026 season, including pattern dances and rotation of elements for synchronized skating.
    • Clarification regarding inclusion of Waltz Jumps in Silver, Gold, Masters, and Masters Elite Free Skating.
  • Competition Program Requirements – Podium Pathway:
    • Updated requirements for 2025-2026 season, including pattern dances and the rotation of elements for Junior Singles, and Novice, Junior, Senior Pairs.
    • Updated minimum age for senior categories domestically.
  • Competition Program Requirements – STAR:  Updated requirements for 2025-2026 season, including pattern dances and changes to STAR 6, STAR 8, and Open synchronized skating requirements.
  • Competitions:
    • 2.1 Eligibility to Participate – Competitors: drafting to provide clarity on current procedures.
    • 3.1 Panel of Officials: clarity added to technical panel qualifications required for Base Level Singles events.
    • 3.5 Pattern Dance Sequences: updated number of sequences for the Canasta Tango.
    • 11.2 Regional Synchronized Skating Championships – Team Composition: clarity added on process for substitution of a skater and alternates.
    • 14.7 Extraordinary Circumstances / Medial Byes: clarity added regarding process and Skate Canada Trophy removed from consideration.
    • Housekeeping.
  • Officials:
    • Drafting to provide clarity to Extent of Appointment.
    • Exception for electronic devices on panel for Technical Panel, aligning to ISU rules, added to Duties of Officials.
  • Scoring of Skate Canada Competitions: Housekeeping.
  • STAR Assessments: clarification added to Challenging of Gold Freeskate Assessments.
