Thank you for your patience as we continue to revise the Provincial Coach pathway. This update will provide the following information:
- Phase out date of workbooks and certification portfolios
- Outline the new Provincial Coach Pathway
- Equivalency plan for coaches who are partially through the Provincial Coach pathway
- Transitional plan for coaches who are partially through the Provincial Coach pathway
Phase Out Date – December 31, 2020
Workbooks: Coaches who have completed Provincial Coach courses and have not yet submitted the corresponding workbook may do so until December 31, 2020 to earn credit for the course in the Locker. Coaches must submit their workbook on the Skate Canada e-Learning site through the following links below:
- Sport Science Workbook
- Stroking and Skating Skills Workbook
- Singles Workbook
- Ice Dance Workbook
- Pairs Workbook
- Synchro Skating Workbook
When compiling the workbook for submission, where possible, adjust outdated information with current content (i.e. old test system questions to new STAR 6-Gold equivalent or adjust SOV activities to current values). If the workbook has already been completed with old content/information, answers do not need to be adjusted.
Once a workbook has been submitted, coaches will be connected to a coach evaluator to review submission when:
- Coach is confirmed as registered and in good standing
- Their section confirms that the respective course was attended
Please note:
- The evaluation fee is $37 per workbook that will be paid upon entry of the associated eLearning platform.
- Course completion for Provincial Coach courses is tracked in the CAC Locker when a coach attends the in-person course and submits the corresponding workbook.
- Upon review of the workbook, the coach evaluator will set up a call with the coach to discuss prior to the achievement being entered into the Locker.
- A Provincial Coach In-Training status is associated with the completion of:
- Sport Science course and workbook
- Stroking and Skating Skills course and workbook
- A Provincial Coach Trained status is associated with the completion of:
- Requirements for In-Training
- As well as all discipline courses and workbooks.
Portfolios: Coaches who have a Provincial Coach Trained status in the Locker are eligible to submit a Provincial Coach portfolio up until December 31, 2020. After this date, coaches will be required to complete the new Provincial Coach Portfolio. Coaches must submit their workbook through the eLearning site through the link below. Coaches must also be registered and in good standing to proceed with certification.
Please note:
- The evaluation fee is $78 and will be paid upon entry of the eLearning platform.
- Upon review of the portfolio, the coach evaluator will set up a call with each coach to discuss their submission. If a resubmission is required, resubmissions will only be accepted up until March 31, 2021.
