The Challenge Minimum Score (CMS) is the benchmark Technical Element Score (TES) for the free program that must be met or exceeded in order to enter Challenge. Note that the CMS is based solely on the TES and does not include bonuses or deductions.
The CMS for the 2019-2020 season will be as follows:
The CMS must be met at the same or lower level of competition, and in the same discipline as that to be competed in at Skate Canada Challenge. For example, for senior men, a TES of 44.5 (or greater) achieved in a junior men’s event may used.
Any STARSkate free program score may also be used to meet the established CMS.
Pre-Novice and Novice: due to the changes in program requirements from season to season CMS must be achieved between July 1st of the season and the deadline for entries to Challenge.
Junior and Senior: CMS must be achieved between July 1st of the previous season and the deadline for entries to Challenge.
In the case that a section has no competitors who have met the minimum score guidelines for a given category, the section has the right to enter one competitor in the category
